COURSE CONTENT
A Basic Life Support (BLS) course takes the most important parts from a First Aid course, specifically tailored to the kind of situations you could face as a phlebotomist, ensuring you have the skills you need to be able to administer life saving interventions. The course can be delivered in your work place with a group of your colleagues, or you can attend one of our courses hosted at our training centre in Nottingham.
These courses are delivered by experienced army Combat Medical Technicians (CMTs) and paramedics.
Our courses not only include the use of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator), CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation), and all the life saving advice you would normally expect, but our experienced trainers will also share techniques the army use in high pressure situations, that you won’t learn anywhere else. This includes:
- Treating shock and dressing external wounds
- Dealing with choking casualties
- Dealing with unconscious casualties
- Dealing with life threatening conditions, like Stroke, Heart Attack, and Cardiac Arrest,
- Using an AED
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
The half day BLS course is tailored for phlebotomists, or any health care professionals, who might find themselves working without supervision. It will give you, and your patients, peace of mind to know that you can deal with any situation that might arise.
EQUIPMENT
We use the latest, state of the art, QCPR Resuscitation Mannequins. These enable us to give you accurate feedback about your CPR technique.
We also use AED trainers, choking vests, and all other first aid equipment you would expect.
We will also introduce you to some life saving army equipment that you can supplement your own First Aid kit with.
