🚀 COURSE CONTENT
Master essential clinical observations and ECG skills in one powerful training bundle! Whether you’re working in clinics, the community, or supporting home visits, this hands-on course builds your confidence in recognising early signs of deterioration — and interpreting what the heart is telling you.
Basic Observations (Basic Obs)
Gain the skills to accurately monitor vital signs and interpret what abnormal readings may mean — using the NEWS2 early warning scoring system.
You’ll practise on real classmates and learn how to spot signs of deterioration before they become critical.
Topics include:
💉 Measuring blood pressure (manual & digital)
🌡️ Taking accurate temperature readings
❤️ Monitoring heart rate
🫁 Assessing respiratory rate
🧠 Understanding levels of consciousness
🩸 Measuring oxygen saturation (SpO₂)
⚖️ Recording weight and height
🧪 Performing urine dipstick analysis
ECG Interpretation
Build confidence in understanding and performing electrocardiograms (ECGs) — a key tool for identifying cardiac issues. You’ll explore how ECGs work, what they measure, and how to interpret rhythms and waveforms. Then, get hands-on experience performing ECGs in class.
Topics include:
⚡ What an ECG is and how it works
🫀 Reading ECG waveforms and intervals
🎯 Pad placement for 4-lead and 10-lead ECGs
📉 Spotting abnormal rhythms and heart rates
🧑⚕️ Performing ECGs on live classmates
